Oi pessoal! Aqui é a Virginia.
O Natal está chegando, então eu trouxe vocês comigo hoje para um dos meus lugares favoritos aqui em Nova Iorque durante essa época do ano que é o Bryant Park. Espero que você goste.
O Bryant Park fica em Manhattan, entre a Quinta avenida e a Sexta avenida e entre as ruas 40 e a 42. Eu adoro este parque por várias razões. No verão, eles têm um gramado enorme, maravilhoso, e no inverno, eles transformam o gramado em uma pista de patinação no gelo, que é esta que você está vendo aqui atrás de mim.
Eu estou aqui na frente de uma árvore de natal enorme. Eu gostaria de falar um pouquinho com vocês sobre a tradição do Natal no Brasil. No Brasil, nós temos uma tradição muito forte do Natal porque o Brasil é um país muito católico, e nós pegamos essa tradição do Catolicismo, mas hoje, mesmo quem não é católico, mesmo quem não tem nenhuma religião comemora o Natal porque faz parte da nossa tradição. É um momento muito especial do ano para celebrar e passar tempo com a família e com os amigos.
E um fato muito engraçado com relação ao Natal no Brasil é com relação à decoração que nós usamos no Brasil. Nós nos inspiramos na Europa e nos Estados Unidos, então nós usamos árvore de Natal, como esta, mas no Brasil, o mês de dezembro é verão. Ou seja, não tem neve, não é frio, e nós não temos árvores naturais como esta, no Brasil.
Então, é muito engraçado que você vai ver no Brasil árvores falsas artificiais com flocos de neve artificiais na decoração, porque nós nos inspiramos e imitamos a decoração que é comum na Europa e nos Estados Unidos, mesmo que no Brasil, nós não temos árvores naturais. Até você encontra, talvez, em alguns lugares, mas não é comum. Eu nunca vi uma árvore de Natal natural no Brasil.
Nós chamamos isto de bola, bolinha de Natal, mas todos esses enfeites que colocamos nas árvores de Natal, nós chamamos de enfeites de Natal, porque servem para enfeitar a árvore. E as luzes, nós chamamos de luzinha de Natal, ou luz pisca-pisca, aquelas que ficam piscando são luzinhas pisca-pisca.

Uma das coisas que eu gosto muito aqui no Bryant Park é da Biblioteca Pública de Nova Iorque. É a biblioteca mais incrível que eu conheço, e ela fica logo aqui. A entrada é do outro lado. Se você não conhece essa biblioteca, você precisa conhecer. Ela é maravilhosa.
Gente, esse chocolate quente daqui é incrível. Pena que eles não têm uma versão vegana.
Quente. Tem um cheiro incrível. Eu queria um chocolate quente, mas é muito difícil achar um chocolate quente vegano, mas eu também adoro apple cider. Acho que não existe apple cider no Brasil. Eu nem saberia, seria cidra de maçã? Não sei. No Brasil, não é comum, não tem, não existe apple cider. Eu adoro. Eu gosto de apple cider quente no inverno ou geladinha no verão.
Aqui na feirinha você também vai encontrar várias barraquinhas com comida deliciosas. Eles têm muitas coisas legais.

Christmas Market

Christmas is coming, so I brought you with me today to one of my favorite places in New York during this time of year, which is Bryant Park. I hope you like it.
Bryant Park is in Manhattan, between Fifth Avenue and Sixth Avenue and between 40th and 42nd Streets. I love this park for several reasons. In the summer they have a huge lawn, amazing, and in the winter, they turn the lawn into an ice-skating rink, which is the one you are seeing right behind me.
I’m in front of a huge Christmas tree. I’d like to talk to you a little about the tradition of Christmas in Brazil. In Brazil, we have a very strong Christmas tradition because Brazil is a very Catholic country, and we got this tradition from Catholicism, but today, even those who are not Catholic, even those who have no religion celebrate Christmas because it’s part of our tradition. It’s a very special time of year to celebrate and spend time with family and friends.
And a very funny fact about Christmas in Brazil is about the decoration we use in Brazil. We got inspired by Europe and the United States, so we use Christmas trees, like this one, but in Brazil, December is summer. Which means, there is no snow, it’s not cold, and we don’t have natural trees like this one, in Brazil.
So, it’s very funny that you’ll see in Brazil fake artificial trees with artificial snowflakes in the decoration, because we got inspired and we imitate the decoration that is common in Europe and the United States, even if in Brazil, we don’t have natural trees. You might even find it, maybe, in some places, but it’s not common. I’ve never seen a natural Christmas tree in Brazil.
We call this a Christmas ball, but all these decorations we put on Christmas trees, we call them Christmas ornaments, because they are used to decorate the tree. And the lights, we call them little Christmas lights, or blinking lights, those that keep blinking are called blinking lights.
One of the things I like about this market are the Christmas shops. You’ll find many shops with Christmas decorations and shops to buy Christmas gifts. They are very cool little shops, very creative. Look, this one sells Christmas ornaments. For the tourists.
One of the things I really like about Bryant Park is the New York Public Library. It’s the most amazing library I know, and it’s right here. The entrance is on the other side. If you haven’t been to this library, you need to. It’s wonderful.
Guys, the hot chocolate from here is amazing. Too bad they don’t have a vegan version.
Hot. It smells amazing. I wanted a hot chocolate, but it’s very hard to find a vegan hot chocolate, but I also love apple cider. I think there is no apple cider in Brazil. I wouldn’t even know, would it be apple cider? Do not know. In Brazil, it’s not common, there is no apple cider. I love it. I like it hot in winter or cold in summer.
Here at the market you’ll also find several stands with delicious food. They have a lot of cool stuff.
