I had the pleasure of interviewing Jan van der Aa for my YouTube channel, and I’m thrilled to share this interview with you.
Jan is a polyglot who speaks 7 languages. He has a very cool YouTube channel called Language Boost where he shares many tips on language learning and also a podcast called Langpreneur, in which he interviews other language entrepreneurs like myself.
Jan also speaks Portuguese, so of course, I invited him to have a conversation in Portuguese for my YouTube channel. In this interview, Jan told me why he learned Portuguese and shared some useful tips for learning new languages.

Why did Jan decide to learn Portuguese?
– Jan loves learning new languages. He spent 3 months in Belo Horizonte (Minas Gerais) to learn Portuguese.
What was the most challenging thing about learning Portuguese?
– Jan also speaks Spanish, so he mixed the languages a little. He is used to learning difficult languages, such as Chinese, so for him, learning Portuguese was not too difficult.
What is Jan’s recommendation for those who are learning languages?
– Jan recommends starting with the most important words, then learning how to make sentences.
– He points out the importance of trying to speak the language from the first month. We should not be afraid of making mistakes.
