Oi pessoal, aqui é a Virginia.
Eu resolvi fazer este vídeo para falar um pouco pra vocês sobre o que eu faço, qual é o meu trabalho. Muitas pessoas me mandam e-mails e mensagens no Instagram me perguntando sobre aulas, sobre como eu posso ajudá-los a aprender o português, então eu resolvi fazer este vídeo para responder estas perguntas.
Uma coisa que eu acho importante falar é que eu não sou uma blogger ou uma youtuber. Eu sou professora, professora de português, e o que eu mais gosto de fazer é ensinar português a estrangeiros, a pessoas que estão interessadas em aprender o português como segunda língua, ou como língua de herança, se essa é a língua da sua família, dos seus pais.
E para isso eu criei uma escola, uma escola normal, mas que é baseada 100% online. Antes de abrir a minha escola, eu dei aulas regulares em escolas de línguas aqui em Nova Iorque por muitos anos.
Eu decidi abrir uma escola online porque eu adoro estudar línguas online, e essa é uma maneira de atingir, de ajudar pessoas do mundo inteiro. Então, é muito gratificante quando eu vejo pessoas do outro lado do mundo aprendendo português comigo.
Hoje em dia, eu tenho alunos de vários lugares da Europa, alunos mesmo que são estrangeiros, mas moram no Brasil, alunos que moram na África do Sul, e outros lugares do mundo.
Então, eu vou falar um pouquinho pra vocês como funcionam os meus cursos. No momento, eu tenho dois cursos, um curso para iniciantes, e um outro curso para estudantes de nível intermediário, avançado.
No curso de iniciantes, eu foco em ensinar tudo que você precisa saber de mais importante, de mais essencial. Por isso, eu chamo este curso de The Essential Course for Beginners.
Então, este curso, é um curso intensivo, de apenas três meses, mas neste curso, você aprende tudo que você precisa saber pra avançar do nível iniciante ao intermediário. Toda a gramática, vocabulário, técnicas de conversação, dicas pra você estudar e aprimorar a língua, entre muitas outras coisas.
E durante esses três meses você vai ter acesso a material, a aulas gravadas no site, mas também você faz aulas ao vivo com um professor e tem a oportunidade de praticar português, fazer perguntas, como em uma aula regular em uma escola, mas tudo 100% online.
O meu curso para alunos de nível intermediário ou avançado é um pouco diferente porque não é um curso com começo, meio e fim. É uma academia, ou seja, é um espaço que oferece ferramentas pra você aprimorar o português.
Então, na Academia, você vai fazer uma associação, uma membership, e todos os meses você vai ter acesso a material autêntico pra você estudar pelo website, e também terá aulas ao vivo semanalmente para praticar conversação.
O principal foco da Academia é prática de conversação para ajudar você a se tornar mais fluente, para se acostumar com a língua, praticar bastante ouvir o português e falar o português com um falante nativo e também com outros alunos que estão aprendendo o português como você.
Todos os meus alunos têm acesso a uma plataforma que é uma escola virtual, onde eles têm acesso a textos, vídeos, áudios, e todo o material necessário para aprender português.
Além das aulas regulares, e do material disponível no site, os meus alunos também têm acesso a uma comunidade. Uma das coisas mais legais é o nosso grupo do WhatsApp.
Neste grupo, nós mantemos contato regularmente, os alunos podem sempre me fazer perguntas, e eu estou sempre disponível para conversar, pra ajudar, ou simplesmente para praticar português em um ambiente descontraído.

This is how my school works.
Hi everyone, Virginia here.
I decided to make this video to tell you a bit about what I do, what is my job. A lot of people send me emails and messages on Instagram asking me about classes, how I can help them learn Portuguese, so I decided to make this video to answer these questions.
One thing I think it’s important to say is that I’m not a blogger, or a YouTuber. I’m a teacher, a Portuguese teacher, and what I like to do the most is to teach Portuguese to foreigners, to people who are interested in learning Portuguese as a second language, or as a heritage language, if this is the language of their family, of their parents.
And for that I created a school, a normal school, but one that is based 100% online. Before opening my school, I taught regular classes at language schools in New York for many years.
I decided to open an online school because I love studying languages online, and this is a way to reach, to help people from all over the world. So, it’s very gratifying when I see people from the other side of the world learning Portuguese with me.
Nowadays, I have students from several places in Europe, students who are foreigners, but live in Brazil, students who live in South Africa, and other places in the world.
So, I’ll tell you a little bit about how my courses work. I currently have two courses, one course for beginners, and another one for intermediate, advanced students.
In the beginner course, I focus on teaching you everything you need to know, the most important, the most essential things. That’s why this course is called The Essential Course for Beginners.
So, this course, it’s an intensive course, that lasts only three months, but in this course, you learn everything you need to know to advance from beginner to intermediate level. All the grammar, vocabulary, conversation techniques, tips for studying and improving the language, among many other things.
And during these three months you will have access to material, recorded classes on the website, but you also have live classes with a teacher and have the opportunity to practice Portuguese, ask questions, as in a regular class in a school, but everything 100% online.
My course for intermediate or advanced students is a bit different because it’s not a course with beginning, middle and end. It is an academy, that is, it’s a place that offers tools for you to improve your Portuguese.
So, at the Academy, you’ll have a membership, and every month you will have access to authentic material for you to study through the website, and you will also have weekly live classes to practice conversation.
The main focus of the Academy is conversation practice to help you become more fluent, to get used to the language, to practice a lot listening to Portuguese and speaking Portuguese with a native speaker and also with other students who are learning Portuguese just like you.
All my students have access to a platform that is a virtual school, where they have access to texts, videos, audios, and all the material needed to learn Portuguese.
In addition to regular classes, and the material available on the website, my students also have access to a community.
One of the nicest things is our WhatsApp group. In this group, we keep in touch regularly, the students can always ask me questions, and I am always available to talk, to help, or simply to practice Portuguese in a relaxed setting.
This WhatsApp group is excellent for keeping in touch, for practicing Portuguese regularly.
The WhatsApp group is exclusively for the members of my school, but if you are interested in learning Portuguese but haven’t yet enrolled in any of my courses, I also have a very nice Facebook group which is open to the entire community of learners of Portuguese. You can look for me on Facebook and request to join the group.
I open new classes only every three or four months, because I work alone, so, if you are interested in taking classes with me, this week, enrollment is open. So, go to my website, school.speakingbrazilian.com, to learn more and to enroll in the beginners’ course or the intermediate level course.
