Oi pessoal!
Feliz Ano Novo! Happy New Year!
In this lesson, I’m going to share with you something very personal: my New Year’s resolutions! I’ll also give you some tips on how to make your resolutions a reality.
Resoluções de Ano Novo | New Year’s Resolutions
I’m going to share with you four goals that I have for this year, but first, I have some questions for you.
- Have you thought about your New Year’s resolutions?
- Do you have a plan to reach your goals?
- What is the difference between resolution and goal?
Let’s talk about it!
Como transformar suas resoluções em realidade | How to make your resolutions a reality
Resolutions are usually dreams or vague ideas, but a good goal should be specific and time-bound. For example:
Sua resolução: Perder Peso Your resolution: Losing weight
Meta específica: Eu quero perder meio quilo por mês durante seis meses para perder um total de três quilos até final de junho de 2022. Specific goal: I want to lose half a kilogram a month for six months until I lose a total of three kilograms by the end of June 2022.
Próximo passo para fazer acontecer: Marcar uma consulta com um nutricionista. Next step to make it happen: Make an appointment with a nutritionist.
Every year, I set around ten goals for the year, about five professional goals and five personal goals. I will share two of my personal goals and two of my professional goals with you.
Minhas Metas Profissionais | My Professional goals
1. Revising and updating two courses I offer at my school: The Essential Course for Beginners and the Pre-Intermediate Workshop by the end of the first quarter.
2. Publishing at least one new course for advanced students by September 2022.
Minhas Metas Pessoais | My Personal goals
1. Learning Italian, and reaching an intermediate level (B1) by December 2022.
2. I want to exercise more this year, so my goal is to hire a trainer to help me exercise at least once a week for three months to make a habit of exercising regularly. (I’m starting this Thursday!)
Esteja aberto e preparado para se ajustar | Be open and ready to adjust
Last year, I found out my puppy was sick, and my life turned upside down.
I decided to give up some goals to take care of Wilson. He’s well now, but he’s old, so I know this year I’m also going to have to devote a lot of time to him.
This kind of thing happens. Sometimes we need to give up on a goal or adjust a goal over the year. This is totally normal, and you shouldn’t feel bad if you don’t achieve all of your goals.
That’s it everybody!
I hope that reading about my New Year’s resolutions will inspire you to think about your resolutions and your goals.
Now it’s homework time! I would love for you to share with me what your New Year’s resolutions are! Leave a comment below with your answer.
Até a próxima!
Your teacher,
Virginia
