Minha viagem à Bahia – Praia do Espelho & Caraíva
Hoje, é o nosso terceiro dia em Trancoso e o dia está bonito, então nós vamos para a praia. Se a estrada estiver boa, nós estamos planejando ir para a Praia do Espelho, que é uma praia muito bonita, que fica a mais ou menos 40 minutos de carro daqui.

Estamos chegando na Praia do Espelho.

Caraíva
Estamos descendo agora uma trilha em direção a Caraíva. Nós paramos o carro no estacionamento e vamos descer a pé até o rio e cruzar o rio. Dá pra cruzar a pé agora porque a maré está baixa, quando a maré está cheia você precisa cruzar de barco. Eu não sei se dá pra cruzar a pé agora. Vamos ver. Acho que a água está um pouco alta.
Olha que legal. Nós estamos de um lado do rio e agora vamos esperar um barquinho que vem aqui nos pegar pra cruzar o rio e chegar em Caraíva. Não existe acesso a Caraíva de carro, você precisa ir de barco ou cruzar o rio a pé, quando a maré está baixa.
Chegamos em Caraíva. Caraíva fica a mais ou menos 40 minutos ao sul da Praia do Espelho, então fica bem mais pro sul de Trancoso.
Estamos caminhando agora em direção ao centrinho de Caraíva. Passando aqui por um manguezal enorme também. Muito legal.
Vamos agora procurar algo para comer porque eu estou com fome.

Moqueca
Eu estou muito interessada neste cardápio porque eles têm moqueca vegetariana, na verdade vegana. Eu adoro moqueca.
Nós pedimos suco de mangaba, uma delícia. É levemente ácido. Muito bom!
Eu adoro que aqui nesses vilarejos da Bahia, todos os lugares que nós fomos toca música brasileira local, e eu amo música brasileira. E você? Você gosta de música brasileira?
Olha gente, chegou a nossa moqueca. Este prato principal aqui é a moqueca. É uma moqueca vegetariana feita com banana da terra e essa cor alaranjada é do azeite de dendê.
Moqueca é um prato típico aqui da Bahia. É mais comum encontrar moqueca de peixe, mas eu prefiro a vegetariana.
E pra acompanhar tem o arroz; o pirão, que é feito com farinha de mandioca e o caldo da moqueca; e aqui é a farofa de dendê, que é feita também com farinha de mandioca e o azeite de dendê; e para acompanhar sempre vem uma boa pimentinha.
Vamos provar.

Estamos agora indo pegar o barquinho pra cruzar de volta pro outro lado, pra voltar pra Trancoso.

My Trip to Bahia : Praia do Espelho & Caraíva
Today, is our third day in Trancoso and the day is beautiful, so we are going to the beach. If the road is in good condition, we’re planning to go to Praia do Espelho, which is a very beautiful beach, about a 40-minute drive from here.

Caraíva
We are now going down a trail towards Caraíva.
We parked the car in the parking lot and now we’ll walk down to the river and then cross the river. It’s possible to cross it on foot now because the tide is low, when the tide is full you need to cross it by boat. I don’t know if it’s possible to cross on foot now. Let’s see. I think the water is a little high.
Look how nice it is. We’re on one side of the river and now we’re waiting for a boat that comes here to pick us up to cross the river and get to Caraíva. There is no access to Caraíva by car, you need to go by boat or cross the river on foot, when the tide is low.
We got to Caraíva. Caraíva is about 40 minutes south of Praia do Espelho, so it’s much further south from Trancoso.
We’re now heading towards the town center of Caraíva. Passing by a huge mangrove. Very nice.
Now we’re going to look for something to eat because I’m hungry.

Moqueca
I’m very interested in this menu because they have vegetarian moqueca, actually vegan. I love moqueca.
We ordered mangaba juice, delicious. It’s slightly sour. So good!
I love that here, in these villages in Bahia, every place we went plays local Brazilian music, and I love Brazilian music. How about you? Do you like Brazilian music?
Look guys, our moqueca has arrived. This main dish right here is the moqueca. It’s a vegetarian moqueca made with plantains and this orange color is from red palm oil.
Moqueca is a typical dish from Bahia. It’s more common to find fish moqueca, but I prefer the vegetarian one. And as side dishes there is rice; the pirão, which is made with cassava flour and the broth of moqueca; and here is the palm oil farofa, which is also made with cassava flour and red palm oil; and it is always served with a good chili pepper.
Let’s try it.
