Olá, queridos alunos! (Hello, dear students!)
I just got back from a trip to Brazil, and I’m excited to share with you some vlogs I recorded during the trip.
Let’s start with a vlog recorded on the beautiful Praia dos Ingleses, in Florianópolis, in southern Brazil.
Praia dos Ingleses is located in the north of the island and has this name because an English ship ran aground in this region. It is one of the most famous and busiest beaches in Florianópolis. With almost 5 kilometers of length, the beach has an open sea with blue and warm waters.
Mullet fishing is a tradition at Praia dos Ingleses. There are many fishermen in this region, and mullet fishing is one of the most important economic activities for the fishing communities here.
There are many bars and restaurants on the beach, so it’s possible to spend the whole day here. And, of course, like every Brazilian beach, there’s always someone playing soccer.
Dunas dos Ingleses are one of the main natural attractions of the area and extend to Praia do Santinho, another beautiful beach nearby.
We hiked Morro dos Ingleses to see the sunset from up there.
The vegetation there is part of the Atlantic Forest, one of the world’s richest biomes in biodiversity, common on the Brazilian coast.
The trail we took is called Caminho Pedra da Porca. It is a short trail but very dense and steep.
The view from up there is breathtaking. From there, you can see Praia do Santinho on the left side and Praia dos Ingleses on the right side, with the dunes in between.
